This beautiful Painting is of women fish seller. From early period women used to sell fishes in the fish market known as “Machhatta”. This painting is made on Handmade Paper with two traditional forms of decorating Mithila Painting, ‘Katchni’ and ‘Bharni’ is used.


Maithils are very fond of eating fish, whether a person is a Brahmin and from another caste, all love to eat fish. Fish is also being used in various “Karma-Kandas”.
